Uses of Aluminium in the Building Construction | Aluminium Composite Panels

Aluminium was expensive and generally unavailable for architectural use until the early 20th century. The use of aluminium in buildings increased in the 1920s, primarily for decorative detailing. In Construction applications, aluminium first approved in roofing, flashing and wall panels and spandrels (the space between arches and structure enclosures). The first extensive use of aluminium in construction occurred in the empire state building (1930-1932).
